It was night time in the small town of Ponyville. One by one, ponies turned out the lights and crawled in bed, ready for a full night's rest. The pastry shop, Sugarcube Corner, was no exception, as inside the two twin foals, Pound and Pumpkin Cake, were fast asleep in their crib. Little Pound Cake squirmed in his sleep, his hoofs kicking at the air as if he were running. Meanwhile cute Pumpkin Cake was sleeping peacefully, cuddled up with her favorite butterfly stuffed animal. Both were sleeping well.
In the dream of the young Pegasus, Pound Cake was dreamt that he was flying in the sky. He was flew very fast and passed all kinds of dessert shaped clouds. Pound then suddenly stopped as he saw a huge ball of light. The ball of light felt gentle and warm to him. Pound moved gingerly flew towards the ball of light.
Outside of the dream, Pound Cake rolled over and his hoof landed on Pumpkin Cakes stuffed animal. He moved his hoof around feeling the toy. He opened his eye a little and then was shocked when he saw its huge head smiling right at him. Pound then scooted back and hit his head on the side of his bed. He rubbed his head and looked at the thing that scared him.
It was just his, sister's stuffed animal. Pound Cake was not a fan of stuffed animals, he did not like how they were soft and always had a fake smile on their faces. Pound Cake also did not like the fact they were all over the crib.
At the end of the crib sat a green turtle and the blue monkey stuffed animal. Hanging on the right side of the crib was the green bird stuffed animal. To the left side of the bed was a chicken. It was flat and it made noise. How he hated all of them.
'I do not want them in here. I want them gone.' thought Pound Cake.
Pound then got out from under the blankets and walked very gently to the end of the crib. He then threw the turtle and the monkey out of the crib. He then walked back to his side of the bed and did the same thing to the bird and very carefully, so not to wake Pumpkin, he went to her side and pushed the chicken off the crib. When it hit the ground it made a noise.
Pound then turned around to see if the noise had woken up Pumpkin. She was still sleeping, unaware of what he had done.
As Pound look at his sister he saw the butterfly. Pound, look at the butterfly with hatred in his eyes.
Out of all of the animals, he hated this one the most. He hated the fact that Pumpkin had it with her at all times. When they were playing inside, outside, when they went out with mommy and daddy, it was there.
Pound then went back to his side of the bed and began pulling the butterfly toy, trying to get it out of her hoofs. Pumpkin had it held tightly in her hoofs, but this did not stop Pound. He pulled harder, harder, and harder until he was finally able to get it out from her hoofs.
Pound Cake then threw it to the ground with all the other animals. He then smiled at what he had done.
Pound then got back under the covers and went back to bed.
Pumpkin Cake began to move her hoofs around franticly. She then opened her eyes and was shocked to see that her butterfly toy was gone. Pumpkin then got out from under the covers and looked around the crib and saw that all of her stuffed friends were gone.
'Where did they go?' thought Pumpkin Cake.
She then looked at the ground and saw that they were all on the floor.
Pumpkin tried to reach for them, but the bars on the crib prevented her from getting to them. Pumpkin then frowned.
Then she looked at her brother, Pound Cake. She knew it was him. Pound was always doing this doing this to her stuffed animals. Pumpkin then started pushing, Pound. She kept pushing him.
Pound Cake then woke up and looked over to see that, Pumpkin Cake was pushing him. She then pointed to the ground were all of her stuffed animals were.
He looked down and saw the stuffed animals. He just shrugged at her and began to go back to bed.
This made Pumpkin so made that she pushed Pound even harder, making him hit the bars of the crib.
He rubbed his head and then looked at his sister with anger in his eyes. He was mad.
Pound then got up and pushed Pumpkin so hard that she also hit the bars of the crib.
Pumpkin Cake rubbed her head and looked at Pound with anger in her eyes. She was mad
The two then begin to push each other back and forth, pushing harder and harder at each other. Until, they both pushed each other so hard that they bonked their heads on the bars.
Pound and Pumpkin both begin to tear up and then the two of them started to cry.
In the room of Mr. and Mrs. Cake, Carrot and Cup Cake were sleeping tightly in their beds. When they were suddenly woken up by the cries of their children.
"Which one is it this time?" said Carrot Cake, still keeping his eyes shut.
"Sounds like their both crying." said Cup Cake, as she began to get out of bed.
"Well lets go." said Carrot.
They both got out of their bed. Mr. Cake had put on a orange and white striped night robe. While Mrs. Cake put on a pink night robe. The two left their room and made their way down the hall to the twins room.
Carrot went into the room first. He turned on the light and scanned the room.
"Looks like Pound Cake threw all of Pumpkin Cakes toy out of the bed."
"Not again!" said Cup Cake.
Carrot went over to the crib and picked up Pound Cake and began to rock him back and forth.
"Their, their, Pound Cake, everything is going to be fine now." said Mr. Cake in a soft tone voice.
Pound Cake, just kept crying and was waving his hoofs around franticly.
Cup Cake went over to the dresser and with her mouth, she picked up a blue pacifier and put it into Pound Cakes mouth.
"Thanks dear." said Carrot Cake.
Once Pound started to suck on the pacifier, he started to calm down a little and he stopped crying. Pound Cake then looked up and smiled at his dad.
Pumpkin Cake saw that Pound was getting more attention, so she started crying even harder and began banging on the bars off the crib, trying to get some attention from her parents.
Cup Cake then went back to the dresser and picked up a pink pacifier and then went back to the crib. She then picked up Pumpkin Cake and put the pacifier in her mouth.
"There, their, Pumpkin Cake, no need to get mad, momma's got you now." said Cup Cake, as she also started rocked her back and forth.
Pumpkin Cake, squirmed around a little bit, but once she started sucking on the pacifier she stopped crying and calmed down.
Pumpkin smiled at her mom.
Mr. and Mrs. Cake, both looked at each other as a job well done, but they know the harder part was about to come. Getting them both to go back to sleep.
About half an hour had passed since Mr. and Mrs. Cake began trying to get the twins to go back to sleep.
Mr. Cake was walking around the room with, Pound Cake still in his arms. Pound, was getting tired, but he was doing his best to keep his eyes opened.
Mrs. Cake was sitting in a rocking chair with Pumpkin in her arms. Pumpkin was still sucking on the pacifier, but her eyes were about to close.
"Oh this is the fourth time this week the twins have fought," said Cup Cake, in a whisper. "Pumpkins new bed is coming in tomorrow right?"
"Yes honey bun," said Carrot. "I talked to the delivery ponies today and they said they would have the bed at our house, sometime in the afternoon."
"That good," she said. "You also made sure that the bed was pink right?"
"Yes, the bed is as pink as Pinkie Pie."
"Good and once they have their own beds maybe they'll start to get along a lot better."
"What do you mean, Cup Cake?"
"Well I feel like Pound and Pumpkin, have not been getting along with each other the last few days and I just don't want them to grow up hating each other. Plus it's almost been one month since we brought them home from the hospital and we don't have a single photo of them playing together or eating together without them starting a fight," Mrs. Cake, started to cry. "I just feel like we are going to turn out to be bad parents."
Mr. Cake went over to his wife.
"Now Cup Cake, we are not bad parents. I'm sure in time Pound and Pumpkin, will get along with each other. We just have to give it time."
"Thank you Carrot," she wiped the tears from her eyes. "You always know what to say."
Mrs. Cake looked down at Pumpkin Cake and saw that she had final fallen back to sleep.
"Looks like Pumpkin has final gone back to sleep," said, Mrs. Cake. "How is Pound doing?"
Mr. Cake looked down at his son. Pound was still squirming, his hoof around, trying his best to stay awake.
"Looks like it will be, a while before I get Pound back to sleep," said Mr. Cake. "Do you want to put Pumpkin in his bed?"
"No. I don't want her getting used to this bed if her new bed is coming tomorrow. I'll just take Pumpkin down stairs and have her sleep in the play pen."
"Where well you sleep then?" asked Carrot Cake
"I'll just sleep on the couch."
Mrs. Cake opened one of the dresser drawers and pulled out a pink blanket and threw it on her back. She was about ready to leave, when Carrot stopped her.
"You might need that." said Carrot, as he pointed to Pumpkins butterfly toy, that was still on the ground.
"Your right. If Pumpkin doesn't have her favorite toy, she just to going wake up again"
Mrs. Cake went over and picked up the toy with her mouth, bitting on one of the wings.
As if she could sense that the toy was close to her, Pumpkin grabbed the toy out of Cup Cakes mouth and held on to it.
Mrs. Cake then kissed Pound Cake on the head.
"Good night my little Pound Cake and good night to you." she said, and then kissed Mr. Cake on the check.
Mrs. Cake left the room and made her way down stairs.
"Good night, my darling Cup Cake." said Mr. Cake
He then continued to rock Pound Cake back and forth.
